Former Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst has a new job.
The University of Texas named Eichorst the executive senior associate athletics director for internal affairs Thursday. Eichorst was dismissed from Nebraska on September 21, following the Huskers’ loss to Northern Illinois.
“We expect a new leader to continue to uphold the athletic department’s commitment to our student athletes, to ensure the department continues to be exceptionally well-run, and to as quickly as possible, bring back the level of competitiveness that Husker fans deserve,” UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green said last fall.
Bill Moos was hired three weeks later.
Eichorst was hired by Nebraska in January 2013 to succeed Tom Osborne. Eichorst also served as the A.D. at Miami from 2011-2012, and also at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, from 1999-2003.
““It’s an honor and a privilege to come work at the University of Texas, one of the most iconic universities and athletics brands in the country, and to work with one of the most dynamic leaders in our business in (Texas athletic director) Chris Del Conte,” Eichorst said in a press release.
