Point guard Cam Mack has officially moved on from Nebraska men’s basketball.
The news is somewhat expected: Mack declared for the NBA Draft in March, and added that he would be keeping his eligibility throughout, something that kept the door open for a return to Lincoln. But today’s news of Mack entering the transfer portal dashed any hopes for those wanting No. 3 to return to Pinnacle Bank Arena for the home team.
Mack made the announcement via social media, thanking his coaches, teammates, and Husker fans. He went on to say, “Due to family circumstances, I will enter the transfer portal. I will keep my name in the NBA draft 2020 and remain academically eligible through the process.”

As a sophomore in his lone season at Nebraska, Mack averaged 12.0 points and 6.4 assists per game. He tallied the first and only triple-double in Nebraska men’s basketball history with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists against Purdue in December. His 179 assists on the season rank fourth all-time for a single-season while the 6.4 per game are the third best for a Husker.
The departure of Mack, along with transfers of Dachon Burke Jr. and Jervay Green, leaves two scholarship spots open for next season.
Coach Fred Hoiberg is targeting transfers from Power 5 and mid-major schools to go with what will again be a retooled roster. Incoming transfers Kobe Webster, Kobe King, Teddy Allen, and Lat Mayen will join three Huskers that sat out last season: Dalano Banton, Derrick Walker, and Shamiel Stevenson. King is the only player transferring in so far that will need a waiver for immediate eligibility.
