Nebraska’s season has come to a close.

The No. 5 Huskers had a tough time defending the No. 4 Longhorns of Texas for most of Monday’s NCAA Tournament Regional Finals match. Texas took the match in four sets, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15, and 25-21.

The first two sets were back and forth affairs, with a total of 12 ties and five lead changes between the split sets. It was the third that saw Texas take firm control, winning by 10 points and holding Nebraska to a -.036 hitting percentage.

Set four was the tightest of the match, with five lead changes and ten ties, but the Longhorns closed out the set and the match in decisive fashion.

Nebraska hit just .171 for the match while Texas went .336, including .407 in the final set.

Lauren Stivrins was a game-time decision after sitting out Sunday. She finished with seven kills on .357 hitting, but was never a focal point of the offense as had been the case all season.

Madi Kubik led the Huskers with 15 kills. Nicklin Hames dished out 34 assists to go with 13 digs and a pair of kills.

Texas advances to the National Semifinals to take on the winner of No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 8 Florida.

Nebraska’s season ends at 16-3 after a ninth consecutive showing in the Regional Finals. The Huskers are now 15-15 all-time in the round.
